Gift Guru ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Gift Guru website and mobile application (the "Service"), a social platform where creators share Amazon products and earn affiliate commissions. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service.

Permissions We Use
The Gift Guru mobile app may request the following device permissions:
Camera
Take photos of products you want to feature in a post.
Photo Library
Upload existing images when creating posts or setting your profile picture.
Notifications
Alert you about new followers, comments, messages, and important account events. Optional.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the social feed and creator tools
- Automatically attach your Amazon Associates tag to links you share
- Process your subscription and billing
- Personalize the For-You feed and recommend creators to follow
- Display post analytics (clicks, conversions) to Pro creators
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests
Affiliate Links & Amazon Associates
Gift Guru is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program. When you share an Amazon product, a tracking tag is automatically attached to the link.
- •Free plan: Links carry the Gift Guru platform tag. Commissions fund the service.
- •Pro plan: Your own Amazon Associates ID is used. You receive 100% of eligible commissions directly from Amazon.
Clicks and conversions are reported to us by Amazon. We do not receive payment information about the buyers; Amazon handles all purchases directly.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do NOT sell your personal data.
We may share information only:
- •With service providers (cloud hosting, payment processors, analytics, error monitoring)
- •With Amazon, as required by the Associates Program for attribution and reporting
- •To comply with legal obligations, subpoenas, or lawful requests
- •To protect the rights, property, or safety of Gift Guru, our users, or the public

Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including HTTPS/TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest, hashed passwords, and restricted internal access. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. After deletion, your profile and posts are removed from public view promptly; backups and billing records may be retained for a limited period to meet legal, tax, and anti-fraud obligations.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

- Update or correct your information
- Request deletion of your data
- Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format (UK GDPR Art. 20)
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances (UK GDPR Art. 18)

Children's Privacy
Gift Guru is not directed to, and not intended for use by, children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Note: Amazon Associates program participation further requires creators to be of legal age in their jurisdiction. If we learn we have collected data from a child without proper consent, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via in-app notice or email. Continued use of Gift Guru after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services that may process your data on our behalf:
Amazon Associates
Affiliate link attribution, commission reporting, and product metadata.
Amazon Privacy NoticePayments: On mobile, subscription purchases are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. On the web, payments are processed by Stripe. Gift Guru never collects or stores your payment card details.
Push Notifications: We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) and Apple Push Notification Service (APNs). You can opt out at any time in your device settings.
International Data Transfers
Some of our third-party providers (Amazon, Stripe, Google Firebase, Sentry) may process your data on servers located outside the UK or European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States.
Safeguards: Where your data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved under UK GDPR, so your data receives an equivalent standard of protection.
